Haldern Pop Festival 2009
I can’t wait for the weekend August 13/14/15 2009. The Haldern Pop is a unique festival in Haldern, at the Lower Rhine, close to the Dutch Border. The first Haldern Open Air Festival took place on June 23, 1984. And since then bands like dEUS, Muse, Kashmir, Phoenix, Belle & Sebastian, The Notwist, Kings of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs, The Kooks, Maximo Park and many more have been playing there.
I personally, never made it to the Haldern Pop Festival, but I only heard good things about it. And finally, this year, I will make it. I received my ticket last week and I can’t for the weekend in mid-August.
This years line-up is pretty awesome, only to mention a few: Anna Ternheim, Bon Iver, Andrew Bird, Port O’Brien, The Vals, and some more. The focus is set on Indie Music. And that’s what I like about it. Maybe there are not the biggest bands of the rock olymp, but some rough diamonds. And you will possibily hear much more of them in the next years.
A quote of their philosophy:
“Quality is inextricably linked to time. Haldern does not just want your money, we also want your time, your attention. It is largely owing to you that more and more musicians are interested in our festival, as you take time for them.
We strive to offer a forum for good music and a pure quality of life and hope to have a positive surprise or two up our sleeves again this year. ”
