I got a tape
Yeehaa…I was really surprised when I came home about a half hour ago and found a tape in my mailbox. No, really a mixtape! An AUDIO CASSETTE!
I had to run up on the attic and get my tape deck. Great! I am really happy to listen to the bad sound of the tape. Reminds me of mixing tapes for…who ever! Should do it again…
I got the Tape by TapeTV, a new idea for music television. They have a birthday, 12 months ago they started and they would like to celebrate… with me, HUNDERMARK, iGNANt, kopfbunt, and I can imagine many others.
What a great idea. Bringing back music television and sending out mixtapes. You know: “Love is a mixtape“! So, thank you, TapeTV for spreading the love! ;-)
Why I am so excited about the mixtape. I will quote Rob Gordon of High Fidelity (one of my most favourite books/movies of all time):
“The making of a great compilation tape, like breaking up, is hard to do and takes ages longer than it might seem. You gotta kick off with a killer, to grab attention. Then you got to take it up a notch, but you don’t wanna blow your wad, so then you got to cool it off a notch. There are a lot of rules. Anyway… I’ve started to make a tape… in my head… for Laura. Full of stuff she likes. Full of stuff that make her happy. For the first time I can sort of see how that is done.”
You see, mixing a tape is art, it is a science. And it is long forgotten, like latin or jumping rope.
So I ran up to the attic and got my tape deck. I put the tape in and their selction is nice. I could tell all the names and songs but… I can’t. Indie & Electro & Pop, some remixes… a nice selection! Maybe TapeTV can send me the play list and I will add it here.
Anyways once again, Thank You, TapeTV!
