The Do Lectures

Ideas+Energy=Change. It is as simple as that. The Do Lectures is an annual series of inspirational lectures, the event is taking place in the Fforest camp in Cilgerran, West Wales. People come together hold lectures and inspire each other, great.
But you may ask, what is the special thing about it? We have plenty of events like this. But in my opinion the great idea about it is to concentrate the lectures on the topic of doing! The lectures are designed to inspire and inform people to help them make a positive change.
“So each year, we invite a set of people down here to come and tell us what they Do.
They can be small Do’s or big Do’s or just plain amazing extraordinary Do’s. But when you listen to their stories, they just light a fire in your belly to go and Do your thing, your passion, the thing that sits in the back your head each day, just waiting, and waiting for you to follow your heart.
To go find your cause to fight for, your company to go start, your invention to invent, your book to write, your mountain to climb.
The one thing the Doers of the world Do, apart from Do amazing things, is to inspire the rest of us to go and Do amazing things.
They are fire-starters.” (quote of David Hieatt – Co-founder of the Do lectures )
There is another aspect I am fascinated about. This whole event takes place in a eco-friendly camp site in Wales. Out there in the nature. And people talk about how to make things possible, how to get the head out of the butt and make things. It’s about DOING! I love it. During the event people come together make ideas, make sketches, real stuff. Things that have nothing to do with CSS, HTML, Flash, Tweets or Blogimpressions. But talking about changing the way to run a company or going on a bike ride for 4 years, or try to find answers to questions like “Can an entire country go organic?”.
For example I was impressed by the talk of Paul Deegan, an Mountaineer & Everest’s dustman:
Johannes also wrote about the Do Lectures a long time ago.
