A Creative Desk

Many of you know that I am currently planning to create a desk. A second one. My first one, The Tabletop, is still the best desk I ever had. BUT I want to improve, I want to create a better one. A desk for creative minds. For you and me.
The idea is to design a desk that solves problems, fulfills needs, makes working easier and more fun. A desk for analoge and digital works. But in order to be able to design such a desk, I need to collect the needs, the problems and the wishes.
So, I came up with the idea to ask you, my readers, to answer two questions:
First question:
How does your current workstation look, and what kind of things are usually on top of your desk? Please try to explain it in words and as detailed as possible, you can send me pictures as well (I would be happy), but it is important to me that I get the main aspects from your perspective.
Second question:
What does a perfect workstation need? What problems does it need to solve? In other words: what is good design when it comes to a desk?

Feel free to answer in English or German or any other language you feel comfortable with!
It would be really nice to have:
1. a big desk, but everything should be within reach.
2. there should be a place for sticky notes and calendar.
3. there should be a small/big white board (maybe instead of stick notes).
4. maybe there should be built-in speakers in the table (if the room is small).
5. the desk should be made of natural material, or at least such that I could put my hands on and don’t shout “damn, it’s cold!”.
6. a place for multiple monitors and a laptop stand.
7. a place for two table lamps, because i like to work at night.
8. there should be a carpet underneath the desk.
9. a cup holder for the coffee mug :)
10. a place for additional gadgets including all the charging cables.
11. all the cables should be hidden.
Ich trenne zwischen analog und digital. Im Büro habe ich meinen Arbeitsplatz reduziert auf meinen Rechner und einen zweiten Monitor.
1. Mich nerven die Kabel und ich hätte gern eine Ablage für Notizzettel.
2. Manchmal würde ich gern den iMac einfach beiseiteschieben können, damit ich nicht immer in dieses RIESEN-Fenster schauen muss.
Ansonsten finde ich die Punkte von Arthur schon sehr passend.

Aside from monitor, keyboard and mouse, there are also desktop speakers (rather large ones I have to admit) as well as a bottle of coke on my desk) on my desk all the time. The other items vary: notes, papers, camera equipment, coffee mugs, depends on what I’m currently doing.
To be honest, I haven’t thought about what an optimal desk for me would be like, but considering how much time I’ve spent to find the ideal chair, a top priority for me would be an adjustable height, since this is the only thing I can’t accomplish by adding other equipment (storage racks, boards etc…). Also, a really large workspace is rather neat, at least 1m x 2m.
Also mein Traum Schreibtisch muss flexibel sein.
Die Größe die ich jetzt habe ist ein wenig zu groß(155cm x 120cm).
Oder es kommt eine Einbuchtung in den Tisch in die man sich bequem reinschieben kann.
Flexibel heißt bei mir, die Beine müssen sich verstellen lassen, ich will auch mal den Tisch wie ein Zeichentisch kippen können oder ihn einfach auf Stehhöhe schrauben. Rollen bzw. leicht hin- und herschieben ist eher nebensächlich.
Das Problem ist dabei das man die Sachen die sonst auf dem Tisch sind irgendwie fixieren muss, zudem kann nicht alles in ein großes Fach, weil das rumpelt und zerknickt Papiere. Es wäre cool wenn der Tisch leicht magnetisch wäre, dann könnte man zum zeichnen auch das Papier fixieren wie auf einem richtigen Zeichentisch.(gibt so Magnetlack)
Die Idee vom ersten Tisch mit dem Fach würde ich einfach nur optimieren, einen leichteren Einstieg machen(aufschieben oder mehrere kleine Fächer). Und vielleicht den Kabeln auch eine Öffnung aus dem Fach bieten, dann kann die Festplatte immer schön im Fach liegen und man muss sie nur anschließen oder das Netzteil liegt irgendwo im Weg.
Und vielleicht noch die Möglichkeit den Tisch kleiner/größer zu machen um einer zweiten Person auch Platz zu bieten fände ich auch praktisch.
Getränkehalter, Microwelle, Kühlschrank, Notstromgenerator, Schminkspiegel(Mädchenversion), Fußmassage, Lampe, Waschbecken, Herdplatte, Handtuchhalter, Geheimfach usw. usw.

Ich arbeite zuhause an einem großen Tisch aus Eichenholz. Das Material ist sehr angenehm. Lackierte oder gläsernde Tischplatten sind mir meist zu kalt oder kleben an der Haut (auch wenn es mich optisch anspricht).
Sonstige Tags: groß, viel (Tages-)Licht, frei im Raum stehend, aufgeräumt, alles in Griffnähe. Und ein guter Tisch funktioniert nur in Verbindung mit einem guten Stuhl :)

lots of leg space to move around,
large table top (as large as possible!) to accomodate MBP with external screen, moleskine, rolodex, lamp, magazines, coffee…
getting rid of all wires would be great. wireless keyboard and wacom tablet a good start.
ideally I’d have a table large enough for a bunch of people to work on together on various tasks. if the room allows for that.

Ich habe den Eiermann Tisch bei mir zu Hause zum arbeiten (siehe oben Link bei @supersoon). Mit dem bin ich eigentlich ziemlich zufrieden. Was nervt ist die anfällige Oberfläche. Sollte eher so sein wie das neue Display vom iPhone (;
Ich fasse mal kurz zusammen:
- großer Tisch mit viel Platz zum Arbeiten
- Platte muss aus Holz sein
- am besten in weiß
- höhenverstellbar
- eine Möglichkeit den Kabelsalat irgendwo zu verstecken. Finde ich bei deinem alten Tisch schon ziemlich perfekt.
So das wars. Auf irgendwelche Vertiefungen für Boxen oder Ablagebereiche kann ich gerne verzichten. Weniger ist ja bekanntlich mehr.
