Behind the Good School is a great concept. Simone Ashoff came up with a great idea and since April 2009 she establishes the Good School. Christian Gast joined Simone in April 2010 and supports her in building up an extraordinary institution. Simone and Christian call the Good School: a school for new communication.
“The target: to mediate knowledge, skills and inspiration in the new media and und innovative marketing.” (via good-school.de)
In times where new social media services pop up almost every day and gadgets gain possibilities you can’t even imagine of, it is difficult to keep an overview over the trends, and especially to focus on the things that are important (for marketing, advertising or companies in general). The Good School offers different programs to keep in touch with media and their protagonists.
What I really like is that the teachers are people from within the fields they are talking about. Instead of puzzling over what the interests and motivations of a blogger could be, they ask someone who has been blogging for years. You can call them specialists. It is the same for new communication, new media marketing, or venture capital. Following friends of mine have given some talks at the Good School: Sven, Philipp and Marcel.
So far different kinds of agencies and companies have been students in the Good School, e.g. Volkswagen AG, Jung von Matt, O2 or Publicis.
I met Christian, when he gave a talk at the Ignite earlier this year. He talked about new trends in advertising and marketing. After a short while Christian showed me the Good School and I met Simone. I must say, since the first day when I heard about the Good School I liked the concept but in combination with the people behind the School and the rooms where Good School takes place, I am really convinced that the idea is brilliant. Simone Ashoff and Christian Gast both worked for several great agencies and have the best experiences to lead such a school.
Their office really looks like a school. Like a cool modern school in the heart of the Schanze in Hamburg. Besides the faculty lounge, there is the class room with the perfect acoustic. In the class room you can find old school desks, lines like on a sports field, but also some interesting gadgets, like a 3D printer or a gadget you can control with your thoughts.
