TWOTHOUSAND11 (+giveaway)

When I came home to Hamburg after my Christmas and New Year’s trip to Düsseldorf. I had a little package in my mail. It was from Düsseldorf and arrived in Hamburg one day after I left for my Christmas trip. It was a gift from my befriended design couple OPEN STUDIO (see this blog post for more information about these two).

Julia and Kai teamed up with Kiyo Matsumoto, the owner of Letterpress 77, a print studio in Düsseldorf-Flingern to design the calendar TWOTHOUSAND11. I like Kiyo’s attitude:

“Our method of operating brings back meaning to the term handicraft. Each single paper is taken in hand, is printed and carefully inspected right after each printing process.” (translated from letterpress77.de)

As you might know, I am really into craftsmanship. Kiyo even mixed the colors by hand. And the product, which the team of OPEN STUDIO and Letterpress 77 created, is a feast for the eyes. The calendar is needly designed. For each month you have one page. On the top you can find the dates and days. The name of the month is randomly arranged around the dates. At the bottom you can find a field for notes. The size is DIN A6, so big enough for adding some important dates. For example the birthday of your mom, a concert or your vacation. With a nail and you can hang up the calendar right next to your desk or next to your bed.

On some cards you can find cute little infos, like “Happy New Year” in January or “springtime” in March. Here you see Julia’s and Kai’s eye for details.

The colors are arranged in the way that you have a color gradient from January to December, from light blue (winter) over green (spring), yellow/orange (summer), red (fall) to blue again.

A little pencil is added. And it is called O PEN. Do you get it? Awesome!

I like the style. It is needly conceptualized, and the combination of colors and the letterpress prints is just perfect.

Clemens of iGNANT also got a TWOTHOUSAND11. Check out what he is saying about it.
