An Island – an Efterklang film

A while ago, I saw the trailer of An Island. And the website encourages to organize screenings for the complete film. I couldn’t find Hamburg on the list, so I thought about organizing such a screening myself. The Betahaus Hamburg was the perfect location, so I asked them. The screening is for free and the complete project is based on Creative Commons.

What is An Island about?

The Danish band Efterklang teamed up with the French independent film maker Vincent Moon to create a movie:

In August 2010, French filmmaker Vincent Moon and Efterklang’s 8 piece-live band met up on an island off the Danish coast.

The objective was to shoot a film. A film with the same length as an album, and a film full of performances, experiments and collaborations.
Over an intense period of 4 days Efterklang collaborated with more than 200 local musicians, kids and their own parents, creating new performances and interpretations of songs from their album Magic Chairs (4AD, Rumraket 2010).

It was all filmed by Vincent Moon who same time conducted several filmic and musical experiments with Efterklang as his dedicated playmates.”

Vincent Moon is also the one who started to film and directs all the Take Away Shows of La Blogotheque.

I am looking forward to the movie, which we will show at the Betahaus Hamburg this Thursday, starting at 8 pm. If you want to attend feel free to sign up on the event’s site: An Island (scroll down, on the right side, find the date 3.03., click attend.)
