This Must Be The Place – Home
One of the greatest source of inspiration, Mrs. Brainpicker aka Maria Popova, pointed out to an amazing series of short films. This Must Be The Place are short documentaries by Ben Wu and David Usui of Lost & Found Films. These films are really great, 4 to 6 minutes about one of the most important things in life: home.
“There’s no place like home. It’s where we live, work and dream. It’s our sanctuary and our refuge. We can love them or hate them. It can be just for the night or for the rest of our lives. But whoever we may be, we all have a place we call home.” (via thismustbetheplace.tv)
The one fim about John Coffer and his home in upstate New York is just fantastic. He lives there with his cattle, horses, a donkey and some chicken. He has a life totally arranged to the minimum of existence, in between traditional, historic tools and technology and modern technology like solar cells and a laptop. The way he talks about photography reminds my of one of my buddies, Steffen aka the Stilpirat. And this quote about his home should be printed on a poster or something, that man is right:
“Home is just my refuge in the storm of life, I guess. It’s the place where I can have complete confidence in where I am at and the feeling of “everything is gonna be alright” when I’m at home.”
