Kitchen Guerilla’s Mezzehallen in Cologne
In Istanbul I fell in love with Mezze – /ˈmɛzeɪ/ – the Middle Eastern version of tapas. Small delicacies – warm, cold, meat, fish, vegetarian… Last November my girlfriend and I flew to Istanbul – an amazing city. If you haven’t been there yet, you should go. (Here is a list of places I recommend.) My friends Koral and Onur of Kitchen Guerilla recommended Gençay Üçok’s Meze by Lemon Tree, which is also recommended in Where Chefs Eat (Apple Store).
The food of Gençay Üçok was overwhelming. The freshness, the simplicity but also the complexity of these dishes surprised me. Definitely one of the top five food experiences I’ve ever had.
